Go To Essaouira City In Morocco

The ancient Mogador (from the Phoenician "Mecdul", meaning a small castle) located on the Moroccan Atlantic coast, is a unique place, without a doubt. Essaouira, a small harbor that swings in the winds, has preserved its rare authenticity.

How beautiful it is for a person to lose his way, to discover or rediscover the charm of its ancient city, which has been registered within the UNESCO World Heritage. Its traditional sports, craftsmanship, pedestrian alleys and colorful shops make Essaouira a city of sure charm, and staying in the heart of its walls is a solid memory.

Being a global city, Essaouira has become an essential meeting place for many cultural events, especially the Gnaoua Festival and World Music, which sheds light on its deep-rooted culture. Gnaoua music, which has many virtues, originally came with slaves brought from sub-Saharan Africa to the Essaouira region in the sixteenth century. This festival is an opportunity to discover or rediscover places such as Moulay El Hassan Square, Bab Marrakesh Tower, Dar Souiri and Zawia Sayedna Bilal. We can say that there is many things to do in Essaouira.

However, the ancient city of Mogador is especially the city of artists, as it has always attracted, thanks to its special atmosphere, famous international musicians, such as Jimmy Hendrix, in which he is said to have composed his song "Castle Made of Sand".

The city of Essaouira is located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, 350 km from Casablanca, 175 km from Marrakesh, and 190 km from Agadir.

Its airport is located 18 km from the city, and flights are operated by Royal Air Maroc only.
