    Victoria is on bushfire alert and a total fire ban has been issued as Melbourne braces itself for a top of 38 degrees. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) handed down a total fire ban for all areas of the state, except East Gippsland, Mildura is tipped to reach 42 degrees while in Bendigo and Shepparton they can expect the mercury to rise to 41.
